The first part of the self defense class that my friend and I attended included jumping jacks, mountain climbers, sit-ups and various other forms of torture. At one point I had to stop and take a breath. The instructor cheered us on and gave us great words of encouragement, and I was just about to cry, when he said, ” Come on people!! You’re gonna need to build up your stamina if you are ever attacked.” I think it was just about then and there that I decided a good can of pepper spray and a big stick might be the way to go with me.
