I kinda knew, but this morning I got solid evidence that my youngest basset is a born rebel. Mini Cool Hand Luke. I woke up early as usual and went to check up on my babies as I do every morning. I checked on my youngest first. He was fast asleep so I gave him a little kiss on the head. Then my sweet baby opened his eyes and said good morning. In a hushed voice I told him it was still early and to go back to sleep. He looked me straight in the eyes and said, “You’re not the boss of me, bossy boss boss.” Then he rolled over and went back to sleep. I had to laugh. The only thing I could think of was the line from the movie Cool Hand Luke, “What we’ve got here is failure to communicate”. Natural. Born. Rebel.
