I have loved gardening since I was a kid. I would spend hours in the yard with my little rabbit, Trigger, next to me while I filled flowerpots with whatever dirt I could find around the yard, and planted seeds that I got from who knows where. That love of gardening has carried on into my adult life where I have always had plants, even when I was living in a small apartment that had zero room for them. I always found a way. When I finally did move into a house and had a yard, I spent season after season experimenting with different plants and designs. All these years of failures have been valuable lessons learned. I have killed so many plants. So.. much…death… I was never upset by these failures though. That’s the wonderful thing about gardening. Failures are not a bad thing. You take notes and move on. Some lessons were harder for me to learn. Like pumpkins. I think I have finally realized I do not have the space for an extra large pumpkin..maybe. Check in with me later on that one. So all these years of wonderful failures have brought me to this year. This year seems extra exciting because I have an element that I have never had before. My own beebox filled with happy strong bees. Before I didn’t have anything to really focus on. Now I do. everything I plant has them in mind. I am very excited to show you what I have planned.

Cadence to Glory: A Novel of the American Revolution

2018 B.R.A.G. Medallion Honoree.

The year is 1773, and rumors of revolution abound. The return of the wealthy Eton family to Williamsburg, Virginia, however, briefly distracts the town’s elite. The youngest Eton son, Thomas, thus reunites with Priscilla Parr, his childhood friend and the now-cynical daughter of a proud Loyalist family. Thomas learns to admire her scathing wit while Priscilla finds herself drawn to his ambitious idealism. He soon introduces her to the radical principles of liberty, the fuel of the colonial rebellion. On the eve of Revolution, however, fate turns against the young lovers, whose families are politically opposed. As the ideological forces within her own home begin to parallel the clash between Britain and the Colonies, Priscilla is unexpectedly faced with a dangerous decision between two rivaling ideals – and destinies.

Set against a backdrop of intrigue, espionage, treachery, and romance, “Cadence to Glory” thus chronicles the deepening schism within the Parr family. By exploring the ancient conflicts between youth and age, conviction and neutrality, self-interest and principle, the novel speculates that liberty itself is as natural and inevitable as the coming of age.
