I spent a good hour and a half contemplating which was worse. Being out of shape or just going for a quick bike ride to help me get into shape. My bike route is a flat path that follows the train tracks. There are always lots of people walking, biking, and the occasional golf cart. Not sure if that last one is legal or not, but okay. My entire route is eight relatively easy miles that takes me about 40 minutes. I am quite slow. So I spent 90 minutes debating if I should do something that takes 40 minutes. That’s a lot of brain power that burns no calories. I could just not torture myself thinking about it, just do it, and burn a bunch of unwanted calories. Plus I would not have the feeling of guilt. Which one is worse? The feeling of really wanting a bike ride to be over, or the guilt of not going on the bike ride? I really enjoy the family bike rides…those are fun. But rides for exercise are BLAAA! I went. I feel better for it. Now I’m good for the rest of the day. Tomorrow I will repeat the process.

When Wendy Watts left Blue Moon Bay, she vowed never to return to the small coastal town where her parents had abandoned her and her brother. Now she’s a successful Realtor, and a workaholic who stays away from complicated emotions — until her grandmother dies, leaving Wendy the Inn at Blue Moon Bay and mandating that Wendy sell the inn, and put it on the market herself “in person.”

As soon as Wendy arrives in Blue Moon Bay, bad memories, the inn’s poor condition, and her brother’s pleas to save the inn overwhelm her. Then she meets a sexy laid-back stranger on the beach, and Wendy does something she never does… she opens up and confides her problems to him. Since Max Huntington’s only in town for one night, Wendy spontaneously kisses him, hoping to be distracted from her troubles for just one evening.

But when Wendy begins the painstaking process of fixing up the inn in order to sell it, Max tells her he’s staying on longer. He’s enchanted by the charming inn and even more with the kisses they shared on the beach. He wants to help her with the repairs, and she reluctantly accepts his offer.

Although she’s determined to remain detached from the allure of her inn, Blue Moon Bay and Max, every repair, every stroll on the beach, and every moment spent with Max, draws her in and reminds her of the local legend she’d believed as a child: that being kissed by the bay under a blue moon will lead to love that lasts forever.

Warp Nomads (Scythian Dawn Book 2)
by P.K. Lentz
4.2 Stars (34 Reviews)
Genre: Science Fiction & Fantasy

FREE for a limited time

This starship crew doesn’t earn medals. It takes heads.
The Dawn has left Earth far behind on a mission through hyperspace to attack a Warp Tether, a cosmic lighthouse which bends space to shorten interstellar travel times. Destroying it would put Earth out of the Jir Pentarchy’s reach for years. It would also keep the Dawn from returning home, something many among them are eager to do. Even if it means mutiny.

A powerful improvement to Arixa’s alien weapon, the ironglove, makes her deadlier than ever, but if she’s forced to use it to keep control of her own war band, then her crusade against the Jir may be over before it begins. Instead of becoming a valuable source of recruits for a rebel horde, the 80,000 humans and aliens asleep in the holds of the Sagaris will die, or worse.

The Jir are not idle in the face of Arixa’s threats. A fallen admiral commanding just five destroyers has been assigned to defend the Warp Tether. But his ambitious number two seems to have a more aggressive strategy in mind for catching the upstart Lessers.

The second battle of human vs. Jir will be fought with weapons ranging from arrows to warp-enabled warships, on foot among alien trees and in the majestic rings of a gas giant. Join Arixa and the Dawn as they take one giant leap from the steppe to the stars and become WARP NOMADS.

Fair warning: this space adventure gets dark. Victory is never assured. Barbarian captain Arixa is not a traditional space opera hero. She’s a savage, and not a noble one. That said, the book is not explicit or gratuitous, and there’s a fair share of light to balance out her darkness. Mount up, if you’re ready!

Punjabi Style Recipes: A Complete Cookbook of Northern India Dish Ideas!
by Barbara Riddle
4.3 Stars (65 Reviews)
Genre: Cookbooks, Food & Wine

FREE for a limited time

Have you ever visited the northern region of India, known as Punjab? Or perhaps you’ve enjoyed dishes at restaurants who prepare food in the traditional Punjabi way?

Most people are hooked once they get a taste of Punjabi cooking, and you’ll be happy to be able to recreate the wonderful dishes using the helpful recipes in this book.

What may first surprise you about Punjabi food is the variety of dishes made. For meat lovers, there is Amritsari Machchi (fish with seasoned breading), Tandoori Chicken, Bhuna Gosht (spiced mutton) and Butter Chicken, among others.

Are you a vegetarian? There are many dishes you will enjoy, too like Dal Makhni (black lentil dal), Chole Bhature (chick pea curry and flatbread) and Sarson ka Saag (vegetarian greens & spices), and more. The lush fields of the Punjab region offer many ingredients to traditional dishes. The food of Punjabis is much like the people themselves – robust, rich and full of life. Tandoori food in its most authentic form comes from Punjab today.

Even though there are five rivers in the region, Punjabi dishes don’t include much seafood. They do consume a great deal of milk. They also specialize in many kinds of tasty breads, since their region produces a lot of wheat.

Punjabi food is usually cooked with clarified butter (ghee) and spices like cumin, coriander powder and garam masala spice blend are frequently used.

Want to try your hand at some of these dishes? Check them out!
