Today my partner in crime and I are going to finally do the beehive checks we have been putting off for so long. If it wasn’t the social distancing that was keeping us apart, it was the smoke from the fires, or the extreme heat. Today we are going to find out if we should buy a honey extractor, or if our sweet bees are freeloaders again this year. I shouldn’t be so hard on them. They work hard. It has more to do with how our hives are set up (I think). Right now I am just going to see if we get any honey at all, and make a plan for next year. This year has been a bit of a mess in general, so I am going to give everyone a free pass. I may not get a bunch of honey, but I have plenty of beeswax for making lip-balm and lotion bars. I was also able to grow two loofahs, so someone is going to get a fun little bath kit.
