Yesterday I went out to the backyard with the pups to take a quick look at the garden. I didn’t return for four hours. My sweet pup Rosey with the black fur wandered into the flower bed with the Milkweed, and came out with her body completely covered in yellow aphids. EEWWWW!!! That was the last straw. I wanted to keep the nasty aphid covered milkweed in case any Monarchs fly by, but seeing my pup turn yellow with aphids was just too nasty. It all came out. Then I ripped out the ground cover that wasn’t doing what I want, and I yanked out the irises that smother everything every year and ruin the plants for the Summer. All the plants that I second guessed, were removed. After four hours of non stop clearing, I stepped back and looked a a clean slate. I don’t know if I will replant anything this season. Maybe I will wait until the Spring. Or until my back heals. OUCH!!
