It was a long day of driving yesterday. Leaving at 7:50 and arriving at the campsite at 3:30 / 4:00, was a VERY LONG day of driving. When I planned this part of the trip I knew it would be a lot, so I added fun stops to break it up a bit. It did help, but it also made for a VERY exhausting day. When we got to the campsite and picked our spot, our sweet pup Casper decided he was going to pee on my seat. Even though the baby bassets had just taken both of them for a walk. On that walk my youngest stepped in dog poo. He was not thrilled. He changed shoes and took the poopy pair to the bathrooms to clean them. On his way back he stepped in another pile of dog poo, but this one got inside his Crocks. It was then that my youngest was DONE DONE! A little while later Casper, in some crazy manic dance, peed all over the couch, dinette, and my hubby’s computer. Hubby was now DONE DONE. All the while I am watching this hot mess happen I have developed a ripping headache and a bad dry cough. My pup Junebug was in my arms the whole time, probably wondering what madness this was. We had a moment of peace when hubby made dinner, and after I cleaned the dishes. My oldest, whose seems to be recovering from the pneumonia just fine, spent the late afternoon and evening doing homework. My youngest seems to be getting sick with a headache and a bad cough. I think we are all just so tired. Hubby and I really need to look at the rest of the trip and decide if there should be some changes. Maybe shorten the trip and have more multiple night stays in a few locations. I knew this road trip would be a lot. I think our brains can handle it, but I am not so sure about our bodies.

Living with family can be murder.
I’ve never met my husband’s sister, because she’s been in prison for as long as I’ve known him. If that’s not a warning sign, I don’t know what is. I should have paid attention to that. Maybe then I wouldn’t be in this situation.
Abby is lovely when she’s first released, which makes it easy to let her move in with us. But it doesn’t take long for the cracks to show. Although she’s nice to me when her brother is around, she becomes a different person as soon as he leaves the room. No, not a person — a monster.
She’s threatened me one too many times, and now my marriage is at stake. Daniel doesn’t believe the things she does, and the whole village is starting to think I’m crazy. I’ll have to discover her dark truth and prove how dangerous she is, but I’ll only get one chance at this.
Because I’m playing with fire.

What’s a life without music… ?
Ruth Silvestres’s childhood was marked by poverty – her mother counted out the budget in Oxo tins, whilst singing her daughters to sleep at night.
Now in her late eighties, Ruth looks back on her life from her holiday home in rural France, Belair.
Sitting with her son, she reflects on the changes that she experienced over the years.
Despite the outbreak of World War Two, Ruth heads to university and qualifies as a teacher, but what she really wants to do is sing.
Determined to follow her dream, she finds herself an agent who gets her work performing in cabarets, on cruise ships, and she eventually makes the big leap to the West End.
As Ruth tells her story, we hear of adventures about make-up lessons from Max Factor, being in the chorus of a West End show starring Juliet Prowse, and being called in to perform at the 11th hour, impressing the legendary Rodgers and Hammerstein with her performance.
But the greatest achievement in her life was still to come, in the form of her husband, Mike, and the life they shared together.
Yet even after losing her husband, and having two hip replacements, Ruth still has a boundless energy and enthusiasm to share her inspirational tale.
Filled with history and gentle memories of a time long gone, Before the Sunflowers pays homage to a beautiful life, filled with laughter, music, songs and love.
