I know it’s too early to check on the eggs the Monarch butterfly laid in my yard two days ago. Do I still go outside and check to see if they hatched? Yes. Multiple times a day. I don’t worry so much about them now, because I can’t see them yet, but once they are hatched I will start worrying obsessively about them. It’s illegal to mess with them in California. Who is getting arrested for messing with Monarch butterflies? Can you imagine being in jail and the person in the cell with you asks what are you in for? I would lie. There is no way I will confess to loving an caterpillar too much. What’s a good crime that won’t get you beat up in jail? I sure as heck will not be Googling that. I don’t need that in my search history.
