Something I haven’t thought about in years. When I was really small, I remember having an intercom system in our house. There was one in each bedroom and one upstairs in the family room. I remember my parents, rather than walking all the way down the stairs, using it to call my sister and I to dinner. I thought we were so high tech. Unfortunately it broke and my parents never bothered to fix it. I always thought it was absolutely brilliant and over the years wondered why more people didn’t have them in their homes. This morning my oldest baby basset, using his cell phone, called my hubby from his bed and told him he would be sleeping in and would be going to the gym after school instead of before. Hmm… how nice. The intercom has been fixed

Promising accountant Lacy Pondwater never wanted to own the Mistletoe Motel. However, when Lacy’s mother passes away and her dad grows too old to readjust roof tiles, she scrambles, with the help of her younger sister Stacy, to keep the family business afloat. Worse, the motel has been in desperate need of an update since the ’80s and is overlooked by travelers thanks to GPS maps routing away potential customers. On a constantly shrinking shoestring budget, Lacy’s maxed out every credit card and is at the end of her rope. After a few too many glasses of wine and paranormal crime shows, Lacy embellishes the description of the Mistletoe Motel online to include Victorian era haunts and the occasional ghost encounter. Business rapidly picks up and after a few days, Stacy tells Lacy that guests have been finding their belongings in the strangest of places, like inside of the chimney. A question slowly circles around the back of Lacy’s mind. Did she inadvertently invite a haunting to Mistletoe Motel, or are her eager guests merely manifesting their own adventures? Of course, white lies always come back to bite, and when a ghost hunting television show asks to film, the sisters reluctantly agree. Only a Christmas miracle can save the motel from bankruptcy and Lacy from a life of fraud.

Roy Orbison: A Life from Beginning to End (Biographies of Musicians)
by Hourly History
(401 Reviews)
Genre: History

Discover the remarkable life of Roy Orbison… Free BONUS Inside!
Roy Orbison possessed a voice that commanded immediate attention. He may have appeared meek and mild-mannered on the surface, yet beneath this facade lay an inner world brimming with passion and fervor. Orbison’s style was innovative and avant-garde, almost as if he were an embodiment of alternative rock before the term even entered the lexicon. He represented the emotive, tender facet of rock and roll, a stark contrast to his contemporaries who were often swathed in leather jackets and exuded the confidence of a typical rockstar.
Yet despite achieving international success with songs like “Only the Lonely,” “Crying,” and “Oh, Pretty Woman,” Orbison’s life was far from perfect. The premature deaths of his wife and two of his children had a profound impact on him, and his music from this period reflects a deep sense of loss. His life journey, punctuated by soaring highs and heartbreaking lows, is a tale of resilience and survival, and this book aims to explore it thoroughly from beginning to end.
