The rain yesterday was absolutely crazy. It felt less like rain and more like huge buckets being dumped all at once. All the usual places were flooded and we were advised to take alternate routs. Unfortunately I still had to go out in that mess to pick my baby basset up from school. I contemplated taking back roads, but decided to risk the highway to avoid getting stuck. Once on the highway it was super weird. The rain was so bad that it was really hard to see the road in front of you. I stuck to the slow lane and only went about 45 to 50 miles an hour. I thought for sure the people behind me would get frustrated with me and zip around me. They didn’t. In fact no one did. Everyone on the road was being cautious. They all were. Not one crazy person. Do you know how unsettling it is when there is not one crazy person on the road? It’s unnatural. It made me extra nervous. Was I in danger? If people pass me I feel like I must be being over cautious and it is okay to go faster. But no one was going faster than me. Yuck

The Sons of Thunder
by Andrew Pankratz

Jacob shifted his rifle to bear on the approaching horseman.
They had thought it would be easy to kill two cowboys who fancied themselves to be tough. That was six or eight men ago.
The previous deputies were gun slicks and card sharks who promptly bit the dust when they tangled with George Copley.
So the Sheriff brought in the Sons of Thunder to investigate and Copley sent three men to kill them. How hard could it be? Gunslingers didn’t have the faintest conception of how crooked corporations bought politicians.
But Jacob and Esau Cochrane could do more than shoot fast and straight. They had an alarming ability to discover uncomfortable information that no else even imagined could exist. And they were uncommon fast about it.
So Copley’s riders came to mow them down. They would try, and they would learn that the Sons of Thunder were not men to be trifled with.
