My youngest basset’s birthday party is today. The goody bags are packed with Twinkies and pencils, and the cake is waiting for me at Costco. That’s pretty much all I had to do for his party. The party is being held at a laser tag place and all the kids are super excited. Most have never done laser tag. I feel a bit like I am cheating though. I used to do parties for them where I decorated the entire house and yard with a theme and even hired a local actor to play the parts needed. Pirates to lead a treasure hunts, Jedi’s to teach the kids how to properly use a light saber. My friend even dressed up like Darth Vader and battled it out with Obi Wan. Strangely I miss the months and months of planning and making props for their parties. I might have to pull the mom card and just do it for my oldest son’s next party.
