So just for giggles I put little witches hats on my chickens. I just placed them on top of their heads, but I wont secure them on because I don’t want to hurt them. I am trying to take a least one picture, but so far they are all of chickens with hats floating above them. It’s time to get the big guns out. TREATS!!!

Safely Buried
John Pesta

Genre: Mystery, Thriller & Suspense

FREE for a limited time

Set in the low hills of southern Indiana, “Safely Buried” is a riveting mystery featuring newspaper reporter Phil Larrison, whose well-intended act of kindness soon lands him in a tangled web of murder and corruption. Author John Pesta gracefully balances strong character and plot development with an action-packed storyline. Though a first-time author, Pesta’s background in journalism is readily apparent through his immense storytelling ability that rivals that of seasoned mystery writers.

THE MYSTERY BEGINS. . . .

It was ten at night. I had just come off I-65, and my high beams lit her up from behind. She was walking along the road between dark, endless cornfields, and her right leg was in a cast. She wore denim shorts and a yellow tank top that didn’t quite reach the shorts. Without crutches, she moved as fast as she could on the gravelly shoulder. She would take a long step with her good leg, stiffly swing the cast forward the same distance, and immediately start the next step. Tilting jerkily, she looked as if she would fall with every stride. I crossed the centerline to give her more room to fall. Just as I was about to pass her, she glanced over her shoulder and stuck out a thumb.

When Phil Larrison, editor of a small-town newspaper in southern Indiana, picks up the hitchhiker, this chance encounter plunges him into a deadly mystery that he struggles to solve because he wants a big story for the paper. But the story turns out to be much bigger than he expects–and far more painful.

Robin Farber lives in a psychiatric institution. In her mind, she creates the world by looking at it: a quantum theory-world where matter pops in and out of existence as she observes it, a world where she is God. And, because the reader of Banana Kiss must take a long look through her schizophrenic eyes, this is our world, too, a world where the disembodied voices Robin hears are more real than the people who stand in front of her.

Robin’s world is populated by a rich variety of characters, both real and imaginary. Her father, a sailor who died when she was a baby, shows up in her head whenever he’s on leave. Derek, her charming, lovelorn friend, goes from mania to depression and back several times a day. There’s her insufferable sister Melissa, who stole her boyfriend, Max. And, of course, there’s Dr Mankiewicz, or `Whitecoat’, the long-suffering therapist who, Robin tells us, `thinks there are some things that are real, and some things that are not, and that he knows better than anyone else.’ Finally, there is Robin herself, whose confused, psychotic, funny, compassionate voice is one you are not likely to forget.

Book 2

A year after clearing her name from Ashby’s first murder in 20 years, Doris thinks life is back to normal in the quiet town she now calls home. She’s been commissioned to do the flowers for the wedding of a friend, the son of one of the wealthiest families in the area. She knows that her business will take off because the wedding is the social event of the year.

But when the bride doesn’t show up and it looks like a second murder in as many years, Doris finds herself on the suspect list once again. Too bad things go sour for a little while with her handsome boyfriend, Detective Stephens, so he’s not always there to reassure her that she’ll be off the hook once again. And she knows that meddling in finding a killer can only lead to bad things. So she stays an arm’s length from this investigation, making sure to stay in business by doing the flowers for the bride’s funeral.

At the funeral, things only heat up with accusations flying about who killed the bride and why. Doris only hopes that she can keep her name out of trouble and get her boyfriend back before it’s too late.
