I am so sad to report that the gentleman, whose bee’s my partner in crime and I had visited last summer, has been robbed. The entire hive was murdered and the honey was stolen by robber bees. He describes his hive as a ghost town, quiet and empty. This is devastating! My partner in crime and I have been dreaming of having our own beehive, and while I understand that bad things can happen, I really would like to think they wont. It is too late in the season for him to start another hive, so he will just have to wait until spring. This is sad news when my partner in crime and I are soon going to be visiting the local bee farmer that we will be getting our bees from.

When even the laws of physics let you down, the absurd, the ludicrous and the frankly impossible may be all you have left. Dr Newton Barlow has everything a theoretical physicist could ask for – a glittering career both in the lab and on television, a beautiful wife, and best of all, the opportunity to promote his rock-solid certainty that supernatural and religious beliefs are nothing but complete and utter hokum. But Barlow is about to take a tumble. Mired in accusations of fraud, incompetence and malpractice, Newton is cast out from the scientific establishment and ejected from the family home. With his life in tatters, he descends into a wine-sodden wilderness. Then, after three lost years, Barlow is suddenly approached by his old mentor and fellow sceptic Dr Sixsmith with an extraordinary proposition, an offer that Newton simply cannot refuse. There’s just one small problem: Dr Sixsmith is dead. Thrown headlong into a new reality that simply shouldn’t exist, Dr Newton Barlow is about to come up against the best and the worst of human nature: tooled-up vicars, paper-pushing ancient Greeks, sinister property developers, a saucy rubber nun and possibly the most mean-spirited man ever to have walked the earth (twice). From the dusty plains of Spain to the leafy vicarages of Hampshire, Dr Barlow will have to contradict everything he ever believed in if he wants to save this world – and the next.

Funny and wild times make for an enjoyable read one short story at a time in this humorous and entertaining memoir book about getting into mischief while growing up and parenting. Have you ever met the kind of person that people gravitate around to hear a story? If such captivating verbal storytelling were captured in written words that take only two or three pages to tell, made you laugh out loud and want to read aloud to whomever was present, you’ll love, “Here I Thought I Was Normal: Micro Memoirs of Mischief.” These stories are your stories, sort of. And that is why so many people have enjoyed them. The wild, funny and touching tales may trigger memories of your own similar experiences. Others live vicariously through the adventures. Some are appalled at times. The short stories in the collection have curious titles such as Streaking, Gore Orphanage, Wrestling a Bear, Crazy was in the Air, Walk of Shame, Practical Joke Gone Bad and Pleasure Attic just to name several. The 107 real-life micro stories are about growing up and parenting in America from the 1970s to present. It was only as the author grew older, sharing in conversation with others, that he began to realize that perhaps his life wasn’t all that normal. He seemed to have more stories of mischief than most folks. Some pushed the boundaries of comfort. Nonetheless, these short stories left listeners at the edge of their seat asking for more.
