Today in my area and many more across the country is a huge growing movement that is important to all of us. Today is Shop Local Saturday! It is a day when we are encouraged to support our small local businesses that have to compete with the larger chain stores, which is especially hard when we are inundated with Black Friday deals that are just too hard to resist. Well…it’s actually easy for me to resist because I really hate putting on pants if I don’t have to. I still have my stretchy pants on from Thanksgiving. Yes, they are clean I did the laundry. That’s when I wore my super soft robe. It’s a dangerous robe that noone can resist. The baby bassets won’t strop hugging me and the kitty keeps trying to sit on me when I have this robe on. Okay… I am all over the place today…shop local today please. I love cake.

In Her Mothers’ Shoes
Felicity Price
4.4 Stars (34 Reviews)
Genre: Women’s Fiction | Coming of Age | Contemporary Fiction

FREE for a limited time

Two mothers. And one little girl. Three women caught in the adoption triangle: the birth mother, the adoptive mother and the daughter, are about to discover the emotional turmoil of confronting their past, when Kate Stewart traces her birth mother and finds she has a brother and sister who never knew she existed. Based on three true stories, “In Her Mothers’ Shoes” tells of the heartache of having to give up your baby for adoption without even being able to hold her; the insecurity of adopting; and how, for an adopted child, there will always be a lifelong yearning to belong, to fit in.

Author’s Note: Adoption was my birth mother’s only option at the time and there is no doubt that her choice, while bringing her years of regret, gave me a very privileged life. But under the old adoption law, the decree for absolute secrecy undeniably caused both of my mothers and me – and everyone involved in the closed adoption triangle – an inexcusable amount of grief. Its amendment in 1986 to allow adoption records to be opened has at last brought these dark family secrets into the light – with varying degrees of resolution.
