Hubby and I have been thinking for a long time about getting a fish tank, and yesterday we finally stopped talking about it and went out and got ourselves a very pretty 15 gallon tank. Growing up I always had fish tanks and I had forgotten just how much fun it was deciding how I wanted to decorate it and picking out the fish. When I was a kid, with my $2 or $3 in change weighing down my pockets, I would walk down to the local pet store and spend what seemed like hours looking at every single fish. I remember how hard it was to decide which one I wanted to buy that day.  The baby bassets were having a blast yesterday picking out their new fish and it was such a treat to be able to share with them the same fun experience, just like my dad shared with me.

Terra is shiftless — a werewolf uncomfortable in her own animal skin. A decade after learning to squash her wolf and flee the repressive village where she grew up, the packless ache still gnaws at Terra’s insides. But despite her yearnings, she struggles against being reeled back into her old life. To Terra’s dismay, her father and half a dozen of his henchmen finally ambush her and demand her return. Yet they do offer one way out — hunt down her nephew Keith, teach him to shift, and bring the youngster back into the fold in her place. Problem upon problem piles up as Terra strives to do her father’s bidding. The female shifter has hidden from her wolf for so long that she finds herself unable to change back into canine form, and she also realizes that her nephew is too good-natured to survive for a minute walking in his grandfather’s footsteps. Plus, there’s an alpha standing in her way who’s equal parts enticing and terrifying.

Will Terra be able to relearn her werewolf abilities — and overcome her morals — before her father steals away her hard-earned independence? And as that tantalizing alpha reels her in closer and closer, the question becomes — does she really want to stay away?

But that doesn’t mean he isn’t in the back of my mind. Our paths cross again in a way neither one of us expect and it changes everything. Was it destiny that made it happen? Was it fate? Or was it something else?

Former Marine Jason McKay thinks his first assignment as a Military Intelligence officer—as the head of a protection detail for a Republic Senator’s daughter on her humanitarian mission to the star colonies—will be a boring waste of time. Until Aphrodite, the agricultural colony they’re touring, is invaded by an inhuman enemy that may threaten Earth, and McKay and his people are trapped far behind enemy lines. Separated from his team during the attack, McKay has to try to keep Valerie O’Keefe, the idealistic daughter of a powerful politician, alive in the face of threats from an alien menace and a more mundane revolutionary front that is working to free the forced exiles from their servitude to the MultiCorps that run the colonies. Meanwhile, McKay’s second in command, Shannon Stark, leads the remainder of the special operations unit in a mission to sabotage the invaders’ efforts to loot the resources of Aphrodite. The small group of commandos also attempts to learn more about the true identity of the their enemy, who may not be as alien as they believe. Genre: Contemporary Fiction | Humor & Satire

Henry, is a humorous exploration of the life of a nearly eighty year-old man with little left to live for. Henry no longer bases his decisions on a sound mind’s judgment and jumps the moral fence of society without second thought or consideration. The story begs the question, “how do you fill your time, when you just want time to run out?” A very cynical Henry bides his time, doing what he pleases, knowing that there are no consequences to be imposed by a world that ignores and dismisses him as it moves on. Two years after the passing of his wife, Henry gradually faces the realization that the relationships of his lifetime have disappeared to either death or senility, and discovers his place as a burden in the logistic and financial life of his now smaller family. With slipping morals and mind, Henry dabbles in the proliferation of potent prescriptions while he is relieved of his responsibilities and worldly possessions.
