I hit the jackpot yesterday! Last week I came home with two huge pots of yellow chrysanthemums from the grocery store. They look AMAZING in the front yard next to the pumpkins. The pumpkin count in the front is still at four, BTW. Hubby seems to be keeping a close eye on the number this year. Grrrr. So anyway. So last week, when I came home with the chrysanthemums, he said I really need to stop buying plants (he didn’t say bulbs though) and because he said this, I felt a huge need for more plants. Sunday morning I was struggling to have a more self control than I did with the Halloween candy, when I saw the most wonderful post, ” FREE WATER PLANTS”.  JACKPOT!!! Poor hubby didn’t even have enough time to open his eyes fully from sleeping that morning before I was shoving car keys in his hands and telling him it’s time to go. It was a first come first serve situation, which means it was going to be chaos! When we got there the line was HUGE! I am lying. There was no one else there. Just a kiddie pool filled with water and water plants. I was able to get two water Hyacinths, some water lettuce, and a mystery plant. One other man showed up a few minutes later and patiently waited his turn at a very respectable distance. I love free plants. It means less guilt when I eventually kill them.

Can Kirby prove his innocence?
Can he and Gambit make friends?

THE MYSTERIOUS RIDER (Illustrated Edition): A Wild West Adventure
by Zane Grey

“Seventeen years ago miners working a claim of Belllounds’s in the mountains above Middle Park had found a child asleep in the columbines along the trail. Near that point Indians, probably Arapahoes coming across the mountains to attack the Utes, had captured or killed the occupants of a prairie-schooner. There was no other clue. The miners took the child to their camp, fed and cared for it, and, after the manner of their kind, named it Columbine. Then they brought it to Belllounds.” – Zane Grey, “The Mysterious Rider”

Zane Grey (1872-1939) was an American author best known for his popular adventure novels and stories that were a basis for the Western genre in literature and the arts. With his veracity and emotional intensity, he connected with millions of readers worldwide, during peacetime and war, and inspired many Western writers who followed him. Grey was a major force in shaping the myths of the Old West; his books and stories were adapted into other media, such as film and TV productions. He was the author of more than 90 books, some published posthumously and/or based on serials originally published in magazines.
