Between the sniffling and sneezing this weekend I did a little winter pruning in the front yard. At least I thought it was just a little until I went outside this morning to warm the car up before I took the baby bassets to school. While the car warms up I like to inspect the garden and take mental notes on future plantings. In my head I just cleared out a few weeds and trimmed back a few overgrown Lamb’s ears. I must have had my eyes shut while I was trimming because it looks like I had a vendetta against the poor plants. There are huge bald spots where plants used to be, and I could have sworn this morning I could hear plants crying from the bad haircuts I gave them. DOWN TO THE BASE OF THE PLANT! Was I mad yesterday? It’ll grow back. Right? I was trimming like it’s the end of winter and not the beginning. I might need to make a few little coats if I want them to make it through the next frost. It’s always all or nothing with me. Sorry little plant buddies!
