This weekend we had a blast at Petaluma’s Annual Butter and Egg Day Parade. My youngest was in the parade this year with his junior high school marching band. He looked quite sharp. If you have a few minutes, check out the fun pictures I took of awesome floats, classic cars, and of course the best drummer in the band! I’m not biased. You can view them on my other blog, Pollen Patch by clicking here.

1948: Kingston, Canada — Charley Hall knows she’s a better reporter than any man in the newsroom. She’s horrified when her search leads to the woman last seen with him, found dead with a bullet in her neck.

Driven to catch the killer and clear her brother’s name, Charley encounters a mysterious cop from out of town who’s showing an intense interest in the case. But as she uncovers the victim’s murky past, tracking down the shooter could land the intrepid journalist in the obituaries.

Can this gutsy gal prove her investigative skills and live to tell the tale?

A Shot of Murder is the first book in the atmospheric Charley Hall historical mystery series. If you like strong female protagonists, period pieces, and small-town misdeeds, then you’ll love Brenda Gayle’s compelling whodunit.

Pursuing a magical cure could get her killed, but doing nothing could be even more dangerous.

Though Myra is only twenty-four, she’s spent the majority of her life with a chronic pain modern medicine proved hopeless against. It’s prevented her from living her life, and now she’s desperate to find a solution- any solution.

When she’s kidnapped by a couple of guys in a similar situation, she’s presented with their wild theory- their pain is caused by unrealized magic in their blood. Dragon magic. It’s impossible, of course, but they believe it enough to take her blood by force.

Saved by a group of people who introduce themselves as dragons, Myra is dragged into a world that should have belonged to fantasy. According to them, she’ll need to accept her own dragon blood and leave her life behind if she wants to live.

It might be an easier choice if she was guaranteed to survive transitioning into a dragon.

Book one of a completed trilogy filled with personal growth and discovery, danger, and a bit of romance, this quick-read Young Adult Urban Fantasy trilogy is sure to satisfy your cravings. Though the author makes no apologies if you finish the trilogy hungry for more!
