I am so glad that I can decorate, but my cooking is just not working out for me for the party tonight. I tried to melt chocolate to make chocolate covered marshmallows, but even with a chocolate melting device, I failed. I also tried to put frosting on my cupcakes, but now they all look like a racoon harassed them. I am going to try and put chips in a bowl and see if things turn around for me.

Coming home wasn’t part of the plan, and being forced to live with her (admittedly hot) enemy? Definitely not on the agenda.

Michael Tucker is a jerk. I know this because he is a Tucker. I mean, his last name even rhymes with… well, you get it.

And while I’m not necessarily going to indulge in the shenanigans involved in the hundred-year-old feud between our families, I’m also not getting too close to any Tuckers.

Even this one, with his tousled hair, wounded eyes and sarcastic wit.

Especially not this one.

Coming home to Singletree was meant to be a stop-over — time to heal after a particularly embarrassing breakup. I never planned to stay.

“Go and get a box and put yourself in it.”

Henry Brown heard these words, but he didn’t know if he could believe them. A
voice was telling Henry, a slave from Virginia, to climb into a wooden box and mail himself
to freedom.

The Disappearing Man is based on a true story — one of the most incredible escape
attempts in the history of the Underground Railroad. In 1849, with the help of two friends, Henry Brown was placed in a box marked THIS SIDE UP WITH CARE. Then he was shipped from Richmond to Philadelphia, a harrowing, 27-hour ordeal at the mercy of cargo handlers and rogues of all sorts.

This was the ultimate disappearing act. He intended to make a man disappear in Richmond and miraculously reappear in Philadelphia.

He aimed to turn a dead man into a living man, a slave into a free man.
