What I need to do is mark on my calendar the days that the Monarch Butterflies actually arrive. Now I see them flying around my house. I spend all Summer complaining that I don’t see any Monarchs, despite the fact that people and the internet say they come in the Fall. So far I have seen 8 caterpillars. These are very good numbers for how small a patch of milkweed that I have. Next year I won’t be growing them in the ground though. Just pots. The aphids are out of control nasty, so I think pots will be the way to go. That way instead of having aphid invested flower beds, I can have pretty beds, with just a few pots of milkweed.
