I am being hunted… FOR DINNER! AHHH!!! You may think I am being funny, but it’s true. Some HUGE spider keeps making webs across the paths I take each morning in the garden. She wants to catch me and eat me for dinner…breakfast and lunch, and maybe dinner again. I am sure with my size she would have a few leftovers. Does the web she use have preserving properties? That would be interesting. I bet if they did we as humans would have figured out how to market that stuff. I mean… we make silk from worms right? What kind of extra time you must have on your hands to think of a way to make a shirt or scarf out of stuff that comes out of a worm? Now I am curious… gonna Google it. I will be right back. I’m back. I bet you thought I would come back and tell you hows it’s made. Nope. I am the same person who was lazy and picked the shortest video to watch (1 minute, 42 seconds). I will tell you, it’s kinda cool, but also pretty sad. Poor worms.

Tallant for Disaster (Colonel Tallant Mystery Book 2)

A storm is brewing in the Caribbean…
Grand Flamingo is a West Indian paradise apparently prospering under its Premier, John Castanos, who steered the nation to independence. But the government is perennially short of cash or, at least, sufficient cash to play its proper role in the world as seen by Johnny Castanos. So the possibility that there may be a vast treasure on his very doorstep encourages the Prime Minister to mobilise all the nation’s resources for its recovery. That other people are also interested, and the fact that two of them have already been murdered, seems irrelevant.

But not to Colonel Munroe Tallant, Grand Flamingo’s Commissioner of Police. A West Indian Test cricketer in his youth, Tallant has old-fashioned ideas about the prevention of crime. A huge, determined figure, at once feared and respected, Tallant sees his role as preserving an element of stability in the exotic and excitable community that is his beat. But not even Munroe Tallant can bend a West Indian hurricane to his will.

In this second Tallant novel, Christopher Nicole again portrays all the glamour and excitement of the West Indies, with the big policeman once more shouldering his way through a maze of intrigue and violence in his search for a murderer.

I’m just a girl from the slums, but when the head sorcerer tried to capture me, I realized it was too dangerous to stay. So I had to get out. I had to leave them all behind.

I’d never done magic like that before. I didn’t think I would survive when they chased me.

But I did.

Now, the other refugees are counting on me to battle a wizard I’ve never even heard of. And I almost died the last time I used my powers.

But if I don’t stand and fight, I’ll never be able to live freely without always looking over my shoulder, without always waiting for an attack.

Do I even have a choice?

Welcome to Pembroke Cove, where witches and murders are multiplying…
In a small town like Pembroke Cove, Maine, everyone has something to hide. But when bookstore owner Lily Michaels takes a tumble and hits her head, and her cat Milo starts talking to her, she discovers she has something to hide, too. She’s a witch, and Milo is her familiar. And she’s not the only one in town. Lily has been hiding something else, too. Even though she’s always kept Gage Erikson in the friend zone, her feelings for the man Milo calls Detective Cutie go a lot deeper than she’s willing to admit.

Gage has a secret too. He’s always had a crush on Lily. But if he gives into his feelings, it might mess up the wonderful friendship they have. With his cowboy boots and cherry red pickup truck and knack for just letting folks talk, people might underestimate just how good a detective Gage actually is. But is he good enough to discover all of Lily’s secrets?

Somebody in Pembroke knows a lot about the secrets people are keeping, and isn’t above a little blackmail. While Lily struggles with learning how to be a witch, she works with Gage to uncover the truth, and a new kind of magic develops between them. Will they continue to be just friends, or will they finally admit to the secret love they’ve been hiding?
