Today will be Rosey’s second day at daycare. I really hope she actually enjoys it this time. It looked like she spent the whole time waiting for me to come pick her up.  I confess, Hubby and I spent a huge portion of the day watching her on the puppy cam to see how she was doing. Being a helicopter dog-mom is way too easy. I need to have a pet psychic tell her that she needs to make a few friends and run around and play. Maybe I could use flash cards with pictures of dogs making friends and playing to communicate with her. I have tried sending her metal pictures, but I just end up thinking about food. I hope she doesn’t get those pictures because I’m not sharing my sandwich.

How did it come to this? My life used to be so simple. Back then, I hated it; I found it boring. Let me tell you: boring’s good. Boring’s great! I should’ve been thankful…

It was supposed to be a date like any other for James Hunter, a simple convenience store clerk. Nothing more than watching a movie in the town of Moncton. A place as unknown and unimportant as he considered his own existence to be. And yet, while walking to a cinema, James teleports to another world. There, a hostile crowd surrounds him, including various mutants with strange deformities.

Before he can even gather his wits or make a dash for it, a lone ally presents herself in the form of a winged woman named Rose. An important cultural figure in the country where James appeared, she offers him both protection and a home.
Soon, James learns that this new world is divided by a cold war. On one side is Nirnivia, home to Rose. The other, Ostark, is led by a mysterious cyborg. James is unaware that the cyborg has him in his crosshairs, thinking of him as the Deus ex machina that will end the war in his favor.

But the cyborg is far from the only potential threat to James. Soon after his arrival, BRR, a terrorist organization, kidnaps him.
What would a rogue group out for revenge-seeking to turn the cold war hot want with someone like James? Is there anyone also aware of this other world who will try to find him? Or is he on his own? If so, how is he supposed to escape? If that’s even an option…

The Royal Family at War (Theo Aronson Royal History)
by Theo Aronson
4.3 Stars (205 Reviews)
Genre: History | Biographies & Memoirs

FREE for a limited time

‘This war’, wrote Winston Churchill to King George VI at the height of the Second World War, ‘has brought throne and people closer together than was ever before recorded.’

Here is a full and fascinating account of that coming together. It is a study of the contribution made not only by George VI and his redoubtable Queen, but also by the entire royal family during those turbulent years, and of how that contribution strengthened and popularized the monarchy.

This is a family saga; an account of the lives, as much private as public, of all the diverse members of what George VI called ‘The Firm’. Together with the tireless efforts of the King and Queen, it deals with such aspects as the Duke of Windsor’s flirtation with fascism, the mysterious death of the Duke of Kent, the activities of the Athlones in Canada and the Gloucesters in Australia, and the imprisonment of the Princess Royal’s eldest son, Viscount Lascelles.

Occasionally tragic, often amusing, always interesting, The Royal Family at War is a richly detailed panorama of the monarchy in one of its finest hours.

Theo Aronson is the author of over twenty works of royal historical biography including Grandmama of Europe, The King in Love, Napoleon and Josephine and a biography of Princess Margaret. In the course of researching and writing these books he has interviewed major and minor members of Britain’s royal family and members of the royal households, as well as various officials, servants, friends and others whose lives are in some way connected with the monarchy.
