What The actual heckadoodle!!?? I work so hard to make my garden a paradise for bugs and little critters. Ask me where I found a whole family of salamanders. GO AHEAD! ASK! Thank you for asking. I found them in a rug I had rolled up in the side yard that is all cement and where I store the trash cans. Mamma, Pappa, and three little babies. I called the parents dumb and moved them to the green garden in the backyard. I can’t say I have much confidence in their parenting skills right now. They are right up there with the salamander uncle that I keep finding in the garage.

The nursery rhyme was wrong. Words can hurt you.

Ambitious, twenty-something FBI Special Agent Jade Harrington cuts her vacation short to investigate the murder of a conservative radio personality only to discover that he may be the victim of a serial killer. Whitney Fairchild, the elegant and charismatic Democratic senator from Missouri, campaigns in a cutthroat race for president of the United States. Cole Brennan, the most popular conservative talk-show host in the nation, battles nightly to save his country and help the incumbent Republican president maintain his ‘inner conservative’ to win re-election.

The lives of Jade, Whitney, Cole, and the killer — who has an agenda of his own — are on a collision course. That course will not just impact them each in ways they could never have foreseen, but also the future of the United States of America. Amidst a backdrop of contemporary power politics driven by the influence of talk radio and social media, DON’T SPEAK thrills even as it explores many of the complex issues facing Americans today.

I loosened the gun in my holster.

Ted Riker was the fastest quick-draw alive, and I was hunting him.

He’d cleared leather and killed men faster than they could pull the trigger. Folks said that he made Wild Bill Hickock look like an amateur.

Riker was an ambitious killer, and I alone stood in his way. He’d spare no pains to murder me, or get me thrown in jail on trumped up charges. Not a soul in town dared challenge him.

I knew one or both of us would die when we met. But someone had to stop him- and no one else stood a chance. I’d done my share of sheriffing and Injun fighting, and I had my finger on the string that would unravel his whole scheme.

A door creaked. The wind brushed my cheek, and I wondered if this minute might be my last. A wrinkled old man suggested I ride out while the getting was good. He didn’t want to see me die.

I shook my head. Tuckers don’t run.
