Yesterday I was out in the garden, tending to the chickens, cleaning up my pups world (that’s my nice way of saying poop. Did you like that better than actually saying poop?) as well as checking up on the seeds I had planted last week. The garden box is still just plain dirt, so nothing exciting happening there. It was a pleasant time to myself enjoying the crisp air and sunshine. When I had done all I could do, I packed things up and headed back inside. The moment I shut the door the hail came down with such fury I thought a Mack truck was driving over my house. The ladies had just been yelling at me for not letting them out, but had made a mad dash for the coop when the hail started. That’s right weather. You wait until I’m done then you can do your crazy thing.

Now Stiger, his men, and his new dwarven allies have fallen back behind the great walls of Castle Vrell. Stiger finds himself named Legate of the Vanished, the long lost 13th Legion. The snows have come and the mountain summit into Vrell is impassable. On one side of the pass sits an army of the Cyphan Confederacy some twenty thousand strong. On the other sits Stiger, his company, the remnants of the 13th Legion and a dwarven army. Each side is waiting for the spring thaw.
Bottled up in the Vrell valley, Stiger and his elven companion, Eli, learn of Garand Thoss, an ancient and abandoned dwarven city. Within its hallowed halls resides a prize of unimaginable value; a prize that will reveal the true history of the empire, and force Stiger to face a new enemy more deadly than he has ever faced before…

by Declan Conner
(14 Reviews)
Genre: Crime Fiction | Thrillers | Mystery
FREE for a limited time
Jesse and Jessica shared almost everything as children, except the same birthday. One other thing they couldn’t share was the love of their dad. He had his favorite for reasons best not mentioned.
The family is torn apart when their dad is found murdered with all the traits of a particular twisted MO. A robbery gone wrong, jealous partner in a love triangle, warring neighbors, or someone closer to home? For Logan, the lead detective at the time and now head of LAPD homicide, the answer was and is simple. Jessica was guilty. That’s despite the case having never gone to trial, now gathering dust after fifteen years as his only cold case file of an otherwise illustrious career.
When a murder takes place with a similar MO, detective Jason Stone is allocated the case. He’s a young man on a one-man mission to make a name for himself, and one who will break the rules to get there. Stone believes a mysterious person he dubs the Night Girl holds the key to unraveling the case. But just as he is close to cracking the case, his suspect list grows.
Taken off the case, he goes undercover to continue his investigation. Infatuated, he places Jessica under surveillance to get close. Too close. Someone should tell him to stop chasing a dream, or could end up as the serial killer’s next target.

He is a Baron, a perfect gentleman, an outlaw, an adventurer, and a trickster, with a sharp wit, a pure heart, and more than a few tricks up his sleeve. From meeting with Al Capone and Greta Garbo, or running into Hitler and Hemingway; from saving the lesser-known sister ship of the Titanic to feasting with ravenous glass-eaters; the fantastical adventures of the new Baron Munchausen are a tour de force of wit, satire, absurdity, and pure delight.
Master storyteller and nominee for the Nobel Prize in Literature, Shlomo Kalo breathes new life into a classic tale, crafting a rich and hilarious world that will have readers tight in its grip from the first time they open the book to the moment when they turn the last page of the memorable closing chapter.
