Do you know who is eating me out of house and home? MONARCH CATERPILLARS! Eric Carle, who wrote The Very Hungry Caterpillar, under estimated greatly the amount of food one caterpillar needs. HOLY MOLY! I knew I was way in over my head when I collected 19 monarch eggs, but I just couldn’t leave them to the predators. I also knew it would be next to impossible to feed the additional five caterpillars that I missed earlier, but I grabbed them anyways. I am praying that they are in the final few days and will move on to the chrysalis form soon. The local nurseries are out of milkweed! Why would a man with no problems and five million dollars in the bank disappear?

I should have run when Amanda Ghering walked into my detective agency looking like a femme fatale from a film noir. But I didn’t. Instead, I took the job — and my first real case — tracking down her husband Peter, who disappeared without a trace three weeks ago. As beautiful and wealthy as she is dark and dangerous, Amanda’s convinced he’s been murdered. Who could have wanted him dead?

Before long, it’s clear there’s more to this case than meets the eye. As Amanda’s story keeps changing, someone is out there who’ll do anything to stop me from finding out what happened to Peter.

And time is running out for both of us.

A mix between a traditional private investigator and a cozy mystery, this good old-fashioned series with lots of comedic charm contains no cursing, no graphic descriptions of violence & no bedroom activities.

There are things we know nothing about. Rainmaking, for instance. Believers will tell you it’s as real as the ground beneath your feet. Imogene Parker would have been the first to count herself a skeptic, until the day she met Thomas Finn. From that day on, nothing in her life would ever be the same.

Return now to the summer of 1921. Tulsa is about to burn. A young black man is accused of assaulting a white woman in broad daylight and the incendiary opinions of one newspaper stoke the passions of this divided city — a stage for the worst racial conflict in American history, and events for which we may never know the truth.

For history buffs and readers who loved To Kill A Mockingbird and Sometimes a Great Notion, this is a must-read book about the Tulsa Race Massacre of 1921. A gripping, tragic love story, Water Darling lays bare the heart and soul of a nation and its people in a time of change.

There’s no such thing as a typical day at Helping Paws Animal Shelter, and this wasn’t the first time I’ve had a soggy box waiting for me on the doorstep with a disgruntled cat inside.

However, this was the first time the cat talked to me.

What did the barista put in my coffee?

Persephone insists she’s been catnapped, and she’s witnessed an art heist. There’s a huge reward for the safe return of the painting, and that money could go a long way to helping all our animals find their forever homes.

Now I have to convince the gallery owner and her associates — including the suspicious but adorable Henry the Hottie — that I can find the priceless painting.

I don’t know a thing about art, but here I am, at an exhibit opening, wearing a dress called Lucky and co-conspiring with a talking cat. Typical days? They’re a thing of the past, especially if Persephone and I can crack the case and catch the thief.
