I am not one for exercise, but I really want to take full advantage of this false Spring. At least I think it’s a false Spring. Every year I get tricked into thinking it is real Spring and I run out to the plant store and buy an bunch of plants. Then the rains come and smash everything to the ground, or we are hit with an wicked frost and everything dies. Not this year. This year I decided to take a walk to enjoy the weather. It was so nice yesterday I went around the neighborhood three different times. The beautiful weather had a lot of my neighbors coming out of hibernation, so what should have been a 15 minute walk was an hour. Yap yap yap. I love it. Time to catch up with the neighbors!

When seventeen-year-old Savannah Devenish vanishes from her family’s remote vacation cabin in Minnesota, FBI Agent Tori Hunter races along treacherous icy roads to be first on the scene. Savannah’s parents are frantic with worry for their beautiful, carefree girl. Haunted by memories of her own missing sister, Tori vows to do whatever it takes to reunite this family.

When the police uncover that Savannah’s father Jacob was having an affair, they suspect his involvement, but Tori is convinced his despair is genuine. Her close relationship with the chief detective means the team won’t listen, so Tori strikes off alone, persuading Savannah’s distraught best friends to share their secrets. It seems this ‘good girl’ was sneaking out to parties to meet up with a mysterious man…

Then another teenager is snatched from the street, snowy footprints and a discarded hot chocolate cup the last trace of her. The girls are the same age, strikingly pale and blonde. Is a twisted collector stealing them away? And what chance is there that they are being kept alive?

With a deadly snowstorm closing in, Tori battles the elements — and her own team — as she follows the trail to an abandoned cabin by a frozen lake. In the basement are bedrooms filled with clothes for teenage girls. Tori was too late to save her own missing sister twenty years ago, but can she find these girls before they disappear forever?

An utterly addictive and twisty crime thriller that will have your eyes glued to the pages and your heart in your mouth. Fans of Kendra Elliot, Robert Dugoni and Tess Gerritsen won’t be able to put this down.

Practicing Happiness: A Memoir of Van Life
by Sarah Wynde
4.2 Stars (386 Reviews)
Genre: Travel

FREE for a limited time

“Engaging, relatable, and funny… ”

Honest and wry, a story about choosing happiness over comfort and living bravely in the face of fear.

In March of 2016, Sarah Wynde decided to sell her house, buy a camper van, and travel the country.

She was a single mom whose son was grown and gone; living in Florida in a house she adored but whose upkeep and maintenance were a constant churn of worry; and she was a little less than gainfully employed.

Nomadland hadn’t been published yet, and it would be another year before she learned about the #vanlife movement from The New Yorker. Sarah didn’t even have an Instagram account.

But her life felt stagnant. She didn’t know what she wanted, but she knew she needed something different.

Based on her blog posts and journals, interspersed with some present-day advice on van living and happiness, this is the story of what she did, how she did it, and what she learned along the way.
